The Greatest Weapon a Christian Has!
Do you know every child of God has an explosive weapon in their armoury that has the power to change things, conquer situations, and even transform the most difficult people.
I am talking about LOVE.
The Bible says that God is love (1 John 4:8). If there is one thing that drew us close to our salvation, it was His unfailing love. In fact the Bible says in 1 John 4:19, We love Him because He first loved us.
Recently this couple was facing major issues in their marriage. The wife was acting very stubborn, but the Lord gave the husband a key – to simply keep loving her. The Lord assured him that if he keeps loving his wife despite her weaknesses and flaws then over a period of time she will change.
And, that’s what happened!
Many times as Christians, we are busy engaging in spiritual warfare, fasting and praying, and yet we neglect the power of love. You can carry all the big titles, manifest in every gift, yet what’s the point when at home you are constantly fighting with your spouse.
Parents, when it comes to disciplining your children, choose not to be harsh all the time, instead try ‘Love’.
Love is the perfect harmony that you can make when you’re in a situation where there is strife, division, miscommunication and misunderstanding. 1 Peter 4:8, says And above all things have fervent love for one another, for “love will cover a multitude of sins.
MIGHTY TRANSFORMATIVE POWER OF LOVE
The Bible says in 1 John 4:7-8, Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. He who does not love does not know God, for God is love.
That means, if love is your defining character trait, you are someone who is born of God and knows God!
Beloved, we are children of God and we have Christ in us. We are people who are born of God (love); we know God by love, and are known to others by our love.
Love can transform and shift things in your life in a mighty way. Problem is that we give in and give up too easily. You see it’s not up to us to change a person. Our job is to keep loving, and in the process, God transforms that person.
I love what Zephaniah 3:16-17 says,
“Do not fear; Zion, let not your hands be weak.
The Lord your God in your midst,
The Mighty One, will save;
He will rejoice over you with gladness,
He will quiet you with His love,
He will rejoice over you with singing.”
Isn’t this so beautiful? In your brokenness, God says, I am singing over you. He is not rebuking or condemning you, unlike how we put ourselves down, but He is assuring us of His love.
We need to use this same love that God pours into us and channelize it towards those difficult ones in our life, so that this love can manifest into healing. This love is capable of breaking bondages, tearing down strongholds, and bringing a deep healing. There is no weapon as powerful as love.
I want to take this moment and pray with you.
Heavenly Father, if there is anybody reading this and they are struggling to love, Lord I pray that right now you will fill them with your supernatural love, a love that comes from you, because it is impossible to love in our own strength. Release your love to them that they may be able to love the most difficult people, and in doing so you will change hardened hearts and bring healing to their situations. May we, your children, be known by your love. I ask this in Jesus name, Amen.
