Knowing The Heart of God
Many times we try to fight our own battles. Although the Lord says in the scriptures that He will fight our battles, we tend to take things into our own hands. The problem with fighting our own battles is that we don’t trust God enough and consequently give up too easily. In my observation I noticed that my parents’ generation seems to have a higher tolerance level. The divorce rates are much lower and they generally work harder. It now seems like the divorce rates and unemployment rates are on a high because our endurance and tolerance level is much less. When we don’t understand certain things we give up.
I believe God wants us to be persistent and allow Him to fight our battles. [Tweet]
God wants to fight our battles. The Lord said, “Hear what the unrighteous judge says, and will not God give justice to His elect, who cry to him day and night? Will He delay long over them? I tell you, He will give justice to them speedily. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will He find faith on earth?” (Luke 18:6-8)
Sometime ago I was falsely accused by a certain person. I was really upset for a few days and I didn’t want to go to God. God always seems to be the last option. When I finally went to God, the Holy Spirit asked me one thing, “Why does that person have so much power over you?” – After that I was free and felt lighthearted. Sometimes we think that God is doing things to punish us or teach us a lesson and we end up spending too much time worrying instead of just going to Him, only to realize, “I should not allow anything to have power over me except Him.“
In the process of getting hurt, we can cry and still remain bitter if we don’t let God take over. We have to come out of our obstacles not being bitter, but filled with love. [Tweet] We have to guard our hearts!
Every time God allows us to go through situations like these I ask God for one thing, “Please don’t let me come out of this bitter.”
2 Corinthians 7:10, says ‘For godly grief produces a repentance that leads to salvation without regret, whereas worldly grief produces death’. Read that out loud – ‘Worldly grief produces death!’
We need to guard what we worry about. [Tweet]
Being a Christian doesn’t guarantee a perfect life, but we definitely have all the tools to overcome obstacles. We have the weapons against the spirits of darkness that try to fight us. It’s important that we don’t allow worldly sorrows to consume us.
Even when we go through situations, we need to tell God, “It doesn’t matter. I want to grieve the things that grieve You. You handle my worries”.
All that matters is keeping Him happy.
As I was studying the Old Testament I noticed that all the men of God had issues. It’s not like they lived in a different world, but they were so consumed by the things of God.
The scripture says Nehemiah grieved for the heart of God, “As soon as I heard these words I sat down and wept and mourned for days, and I continued fasting and praying before the God of heaven.” (Nehemiah 1:4)
Why was he crying? Because the people of Israel were sinning. Instead of crying over what breaks God’s heart we sit and cry for worldly things. We are so consumed by the things of the world, and so easily offended that we are so quick to take things personally. It’s okay to be hurt and feel sad, but we have to guard our hearts that it doesn’t consume us.
Take for instance Nehemiah. The man of God was crying for sinners. His relationship with God was so strong that he grieved what hurt Gods’ heart. Have we cried for the sins of the people in our city yet? Nehemiah’s godly sorrow laid the foundation to God’s work among His people!
Another man of God in the scripture is Samuel who grieved over Saul, “And Samuel did not see Saul again until the day of his death, but Samuel grieved over Saul. And the LORD regretted that he had made Saul king over Israel.” (1 Samuel 15:35)
Do you see the pattern? They were so filled with Godly sorrow.
The Lord wants us to come to that place where we will be so consumed by what consumes Him. [Tweet]
God is always in control! As long as your heart is connected with God, as long as you allow him to fight your battles, there is nothing that you have to worry about. The only worries of our life should be what grieves the Master. [Tweet]
I had written a post about it (Pls read here). Even if trouble comes, you have to be persistent. Stay strong and be persistent, even if a family member fights you, run to God. Sit at the feet of Jesus and allow Him to fight for you. [Tweet]
I want to encourage you to be sensitive in the spirit, the greatest gift we have is tears. We have to rise up as children of God – praying, crying, pushing us closer to our destiny. Everything that tries to provoke us should bring us closer to God.
When He sees that His children are persistently perusing Him, He’ll never show His back. [Tweet]
Draw near to Him and He will draw near to you!
He’s not looking for mighty men and women, but He is looking for people who will sit at His feet. [Tweet]
We need to be persistent and surrender our prayers.
Pray this simple prayer,
“Lord Jesus, take over my thoughts, desires and plans. Please take over my family, my situations & circumstances. Take it away, for they belong to You, and fill me with Your burden. I want to cry for the things of Your spirit, the things that grieve Your heart.”
