And behold, there was a man in Jerusalem whose name was Simeon, and this man was just and devout, waiting for the Consolation of Israel, and the Holy Spirit was upon him. And it had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he would not see death before he had seen the Lord’s Christ. So he came by the Spirit into the temple. And when the parents brought in the Child Jesus, to do for Him according to the custom of the law,
Luke 2:25–27 NKJV

Can you imagine this moment?

The Holy Spirit precisely led Simeon to the temple at the exact time Mary and Joseph brought in the baby Jesus. He took the child in his arms, blessed God, and said:

“Lord, now You are letting Your servant depart in peace, according to Your word; for my eyes have seen Your salvation, which You have prepared in the sight of all people – a light of revelation to the Gentiles and the glory of Your people Israel.”

Now, Simeon wasn’t someone who lived in the temple day and night. But the Bible says, the Holy Spirit was upon him.

And that made all the difference! He was in the right place at the right time because he followed the leading of the Spirit. He remembered the promise God had given him: that he would not die before he had seen the Messiah.

What a life!

That kind of precise leading only happens when we are soaked in the presence of the Lord. To get to the place in your life where you can be led by the Spirit, you must first learn to recognise His voice. This comes not only through prayer and reading the Word of God, but also by meditating on it. Meditation trains your human spirit to discern God’s voice and to be more in tune with what He wants to say specifically about every detail of your life.

This is why God told Joshua that meditating on His Word was the key to prosperity and success (Joshua 1:8). The secret to receiving God’s promises is found in consistently engaging with His Word and letting it shape your spirit. But reading and meditating alone isn’t enough, obedience must follow.

As John 14:15 says, “If you love Me, keep My commandments” (NKJV). Loving God is doing what He has asked. When you love and obey Him, you are abiding in Him, and that is the position from which His Spirit can lead you in every area of your life.

Just like Simeon, when you are attuned to the Spirit, God can guide you into divine appointments, opportunities, and revelations that others may never see. Obedience in even the small things trains your spirit to hear His voice more clearly. The more you respond, the more you hear, until walking in the Spirit becomes your normal way of life. Supernatural breakthroughs, divine wisdom, and miracles will begin to flow naturally in your life.

The Bible reminds us in Galatians 5:16, “Walk in the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.” Walking in the Spirit is not passive; it requires intentional alignment with God, meditation on His Word, and immediate obedience to His promptings. Simeon’s life was a testimony because he let the Spirit lead him. And, in the New Covenant, we are sealed with the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 1:13). If walking in the Spirit was Simeon’s testimony, how much more should it be ours, who are washed by the blood of Jesus!

When we walk in the Spirit, sickness loses its grip. Purity becomes natural. Temptation loses its pull because our hearts are aligned with Him. Beloved, as you read this, let Galatians 5:25 guide you: “If we live by the Spirit, let us also keep in step with the Spirit.”

Train yourself in God’s Word, tune into your spirit, obey immediately, and watch Him lead you into the extraordinary life He has prepared.
