The Kind of Worship God Seeks
God loves the worship of His children. There are many ways we offer our worship to the Lord—both personally and together as a community. Each week, we gather as a church to lift our voices in praise, and at home we take time to seek Him and sing songs of adoration.
And that’s beautiful!
Further, we have also learned about worshipping God through our generosity in giving. But in this post I want to draw your attention to a form of worship where you can give YOURSELF to Him!
How is that, you may ask?
Well, Romans 12:1 talks about it: I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. (ESV)
When we give ourselves completely to God by living a life that’s pleasing to Him – that’s the worship He values the most!
God doesn’t want “just a few areas” of your life, but He desires to have “all of you” – your time, your desires, your emotions …everything. This kind of surrender is the purest form of worship that you can give to Him.
That’s when you now become a vessel unto God and He begins to fill and use you more and more for His glory.
Beloved, I want to encourage you – Don’t hold yourself back. It’s time we stop making excuses, and stop living with a victim mindset. Listen, we’ve all faced heartbreaks and challenges. We all have a past. Even I’ve had my share of struggles — but I don’t dwell on them, because that ‘old me’ is gone. I don’t identify with that ‘old Tiny’ anymore.
If the Lord could transform me, why wouldn’t He do the same for you?
As you read this, I want to invite you to take a moment and surrender your heart completely to Him. What’s holding you back? Is it a relationship? Your career? Your past? Whatever it may be, remember there is nothing and no one worth pursuing more than Jesus.
Don’t live your life trying to please others. Your heart belongs to Jesus. He is the one who created you, formed you and has good plans for your life. His love for you never changes, and He is too faithful to ever fail you. Don’t let anyone steal your surrender to Him.
Have you considered surrendering your time to God?
May be you are single right now and have more free time compared to someone who is married. Don’t wait for another season to surrender your heart to Him because time will not come back. From being single to becoming a wife or a mother, life will only get busier.
I remember when I went to University, I lived in an apartment that I had to share with two non-believers. It was a struggle to get my ‘alone-time’ with God. Yet, God has blessed some of you with your own rooms, even your own apartments, and still, you don’t have a personal time with Him. Can I encourage you to make the most of this season of your youth? Consecrate yourself unto God, pursuing Him through meditating on the Word, worshipping, praying in tongues, serving in the house of God.
Trust me when you begin to surrender yourself that way, the devil’s hold on your life will break. Temptations and addictions will be destroyed through the fire of God upon your life. You will begin to realise the authority God has given you. Luke 10:19 says Behold I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions and over all the power of the enemy and nothing shall by any means hurt you.
In other words, God is saying, I’m not just giving you power over snakes and scorpions, but authority to completely nullify or destroy the forces behind them. A scorpion’s poison is symbolic of the enemy’s lies and deception, and God has given you authority to trample over these spirits. God has given you power over ALL the power of the enemy, not just some, but ALL! No lust can overtake you, no addiction can have victory over you. All God needs is your surrender.
This week, let’s worship Him better; worship Him with our surrender, Amen!
