How Your Giving Can Attract God

Do you know your giving can attract God encounters and breakthroughs like never before in your life?

In this post, I want to share with you two principles of giving from Solomon’s life.

MAKE GIVING YOUR LIFESTYLE

The Bible talks about King Solomon who was the wisest king in the Old Testament. Solomon loved the Lord, walking in the statutes of his father David (1 Kings 3:3)

In 1 Kings we read, he went to a great high place to sacrifice to God; and he offered 1000 burnt offerings! Now, that was big.

The ESV version of 1 Kings 3:4 says, And the king went to Gibeon to sacrifice there, for that was the great high place. Solomon used to offer a thousand burnt offerings on that altar.

Solomon was “used to” giving offerings on that altar. Wow, that means giving was his lifestyle. Outrageous kind of giving was normal for him.

And we read, immediately the next verse, at that very place God appeared to Solomon in a dream by night; and said, “Ask! What shall I give you?” (1Kings 3:5). And Solomon asked for wisdom to govern his people.

So here is the first principle of giving that we can learn from Solomon’s life. Make giving your lifestyle. That proves you believe in its power.

BE INTENTIONAL ABOUT YOUR SEED

Further, when we read about Solomon dedicating the temple he built for God (1Kings 8:63), this time he gives to God way beyond what he had given previously. Solomon offers twenty-two thousand bulls and one hundred and twenty thousand sheep, apart from other offerings.

And God appeared to him a second time, as he had appeared to him at Gibeon. (1 Kings 9:2). And this time, Solomon asks for God’s name to be established on the temple forever and that God would hear the prayers and supplications made at the temple.

So here is principle number two, if you are believing God for a breakthrough, you need to name your seed. In other words, be specific in what you ask from God. That shows how hungry and intentional you are for your breakthrough.

LET GIVING BE A PART OF YOU

Child of God, if you follow these above two principles, you can move the heart of God and experience breakthrough like never before.

When you give to God, give with reverence and with great joy.

And, let giving become a part of you, as we serve a God who gives so lavishly.

After all, it is He, who gives us an opportunity to bring our seeds to Him so that He can bless us.
