What Attracts God’s Heart?
The parable of the lost son in Luke 15 speaks about the prodigal son who went away from his father. When he came to the realisation that he had made a big mistake, he decides to return to his father.
I will arise and go to my father, and will say to him, “Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you, 19 and I am no longer worthy to be called your son. Make me like one of your hired servants.” (Luke 19:18-19)
The prodigal son didn’t come back obliged or entitled, even though he was still a son of the house. Instead he came back with humility in his heart not expecting anything in return.
His father, on the other hand was waiting and watching for him to return every day and the Bible says when “he was still a great way off, his father saw him and had compassion, and ran and fell on his neck and kissed him. (Luke 15:20). He put the best robe on him, put a ring on his finger, and sandals on his feet, and threw a party to celebrate the coming of his son.
That’s the love God our father shows!
When you humble yourself, you move His heart
Many times when we fall, we are hesitant to approach God. Sometimes we are afraid: How can I confess my failures to my pastors, leaders or even our spouse. What will they think of me? It will be all over.
May be you have had a bad past, or are struggling in certain areas, get yourself accountable to your God sent leader in humility and you will see how freedom will break through in your life.
Leaders, I want to speak to you too
Don’t condemn or quench people when they share their brokenness with you. Use that opportunity to show them love because the grace you show is the grace you will receive.
Come boldly to the throne of grace
So child of God, humility is the way to the heart of God. Come boldly to the throne of grace, no matter how many insecurities you have or how messed up you are. When you humble yourself, you move His heart. When you go to your leaders or spiritual parents in humility, the Lord will move their heart for your good.
