The Little Things We Ignore (The Blind Baby Boy)

by | May 25, 2012 | Encouraging

The other day I came across this video which really shocked, challenged and inspired me. It was about a mother who bore a son who was blind and with a Tessier cleft lip and palate. A cleft lip is a fissure or opening – a gap in the mouth. It is the non-fusion of the body’s natural structures that form before birth.

In the video, the mother is seen talking about how she was anxious about not knowing how to bring up a child who is blind.

This video made sense to me more than ever as I now hold my ten week old Kathryn. Even though I was grateful to God for my child, I took little notice or failed to thank Him for the little things.

I forgot that those little things that we take for granted could make a lot of difference if it was missing in the first place.

I immediately went to my baby Kathryn, held her in my hands and thanked the Lord for her. For her eyes, her nose, her lips and so on.

I then took time to thank God for everything else. I thanked God for Jesus, His Spirit, my family and all the blessings. When was the last time you did that for everything God has given you?

Yes there has been times I have murmured when things din’t go well.

Even though God took the Israelites out of Egypt, they still murmured of what they saw with their natural eyes. They saw that the land they were supposed to go into had these giants living there. They feared that they were not strong enough to conquer them. The fear of the impossible let them to murmur against a God that had set them free. Faith is the opposite of fear and without faith it is impossible to please God.

How many times have we murmured against Jesus forgetting how He saved us from our bondages.

Yes maybe you may not be in the best of your situations but remember as the Bible says, “Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.” – 1 Thessalonians 5:18

Dear friend, it doesn’t matter how big or impossible your problem is today, Jesus will see you through. We just need to remain grateful and guard our hearts from any murmuring that grieves the Holy Spirit.

As soon as my husband came home, I mentioned about this video and told him how much we should thank God for His goodness. I desire to always have a thankful heart even during my rough situations as that is the will of the Father.

Another scripture to end with..
“… stand every morning to thank and praise the LORD, and likewise at evening …” 1 Chro 23:30.
