When I was in my 5th grade I was playing with something and one of my finger got curved. (something like in the picture) There was a huge hue and cry that followed. I showed this to my mother & she freaked out too. She wanted to let her fix it but I was too afraid to let her touch my finger. She tried scaring me by saying, “If you don’t allow me to fix your finger no one is going to marry you with that finger and you will be known as a handicapped girl.” Now the handicap part was a bit scary but as adamant as I could be I did not let her touch my finger.

One day while I was sleeping, my mom came and fixed my finger. Well, that was all about it. I woke up next morning and was shocked to see my bent finger straight. The truth was that even though I knew it could be fixed I still did not want anyone to touch it because I was scared that it would hurt me. Now such a silly incident had gone on for months together because I got comfortable with my situation. Even though my mother was ready to help me I did not bother to reach out for help.

Sometimes we can get comfortable with situations in our life too. We would prefer sitting in the boat than to step out into the waters by faith. It is only when we step out in faith we see things that we would otherwise never see. Let us believe and ask as the Word of God says in Matthew 21:22 “And whatever things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive.”

Recently the LORD led me to ‘ASK’ him even the smallest of things. We need to learn to ask Him those things that we do not want to dependent on Him for. God is drawn to our dependency on Him. Psalm 34:18 says, “The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” Don’t let your lethargic spirit and contentment underestimate the power of God and what faith can do in your life. God bless you.
